Just 35 of the 3538 S1’s made were long wheel base, Only 12 were to receive truly individualistic coachwork courtesy of Hooper and James Young. Styled by AF Mc Neill, the five James Young LWB’s (three saloons & two limousines) were noted for their understated elegance and purity of line. Ordered via Jack Barclay Ltd by first Owner George E Hickman, ALB 20 was dispatched to James Young’s Bromley premises on the 22 nd July 1958. Delivered some nine months later on the 10 th of April 1959 to Drummond Brothers Ltd, its guarantee was activated the same day. Then Purchased from Drummond Brothers Ltd by Colin Moreton in 1971 , ALB 20 passed to Harwoods Ltd, then into Mrs J M Horton’s hands in 1999 then being sold to the present keeper who describes this fine vehicle as being in very good overall condition. Apparently maintained regardless of cost. First of the three James Young LWB saloons to be completed ALB 20 remains a very special motorcar. A rare & unique opportunity to purchase a piece of historic engineering.
